Information gathering and formulating ideas

We would like to welcome two new members for our project this week, Arielle and Josh.  We have talked about wanting to see what direction we might be going with our project.  A few ideas that we have discussed are helping homeless individuals register to vote, looking at the barriers for homeless individuals wanting to vote and addressing those barriers, such as lack of identification or not having an address or another idea was we could focus on educating the homeless on issues affecting their community and how their vote can make a difference. This next couple of weeks we have decided to focus on doing some research on articles and programs to help guide us and provide us with more direction with our Macro project and contextualizing our problem. Some of us have been looking for articles and research to gather more information that we can discuss next week.  The following individuals will be reading the following:

Cynnamon:  Reached out to the Fourth Street Clinic Consumer Advisory Board and am waiting to connect with them to set up a time to meet with them about our project.  Also sent an email to the Partnership for the Homeless (which was mentioned in the article) that discussed a program in New York that educated homeless individuals on the voting process and had a voter registration drive that they conducted to get more information about their program.

Because of our two recent additions to our group, Arielle and Josh, this week will be coordinating with each other on what everyone’s role may be and looking for some additional articles and research for contextualizing our problem and narrowing our focus.  Looking forward to this week to have the opportunity to meet and discuss all our information.
